Pain & Depression Linked?

IS YOUR PAIN MAKING YOU DEPRESSED OR IS YOUR DEPRESSION MAKING YOU HURT?

It wasn’t that long ago that stating pain could make you depressed or vice versa would draw laughs from the health care world.  There wasn’t any science behind it, it seemed ‘mystical’ or at best ‘pseudo-science’ to assume it possible.  Well, these days there is a plethora of research to back up the physical-mental connection and researchers have been looking beyond that and asking deeper questions, such as “Is this connection ONLY in industrialized countries, where all the person’s basic needs are met, so they are ABLE to have this type of experience”?  Many assumed that in 3rd world countries where food, water, and shelter took precedence that we would not see the mental-physical connection that has been widely reported.  A study done at the University of Kansas is dispelling doubts, suggesting that the mental-emotional link is universal and not just reserved for industrialized countries.  Bottom line, if you have pain or you are in a mentally depressed state, they can cause the other to happen, it appears to be cyclical.   Click HERE to see the full article.
